An Afternoon in Waco, Texas

An Afternoon in Waco, Texas: The Silos at Magnolia Market, Harp Design Co., and the Dr. Pepper MuseumLike millions of other people, I’ve watched Fixer Upper since its first season three years ago.  I love Chip’s crazy antics, Jo’s method of mixing old and new to create beautiful, homey spaces, and Clint’s amazing reclaimed furniture pieces.  If given the opportunity, I’d move to Waco and work for either company in just about any capacity.  That won’t ever happen, but recently I got as close as I’ll ever get.

We arranged the route of our No Interstates Road Trip to take us through Waco, where we visited Chip and Jo’s Magnolia Silos, Clint’s Harp Design Co. shop, and took a quick tour of the Dr. Pepper museum, only blocks from Magnolia Market.

One Room Challenge: Week 5

It's Week 5 of the One Room Challenge!

There's still quite a list of things to do to get this room finished, and I am 100% sure there's no way it will all happen.  There are several reasons for this.  The main one is that we had barely arrived home from our Europe trip before it was time to hop on another plane to NYC for the Marathon!  That left very little time to get anything done in between the four loads of laundry, cleaning, unpacking, packing, etc. that must be done before and/or after any trip!

One Room Challenge 2016: Week 3

Greetings from the air over the English Channel!  We have spent the past few days exploring London and are headed to the northern coast of France next to visit the D-Day beaches in Normandy.

Here's a fun fact:  Accessing Blogger from a wireless connection in France causes the entire page, with the exception of my own text, to show up in French, which is a language I do not speak.  I can pick out a few words here and there, but even though I've been using Blogger for several years now and the page looks identical, except in French...I feel a little lost.  I'm also running off of about 5 hours of sleep from our late last night in London and early flight so don't quite have the brain power to solve the problem.  So this post will not be formatted the way I usually would at this point, but if I can figure out how to change this browser to English, things will start to look like normal again!

But the One Room Challenge must go on in spite of bad hotel wireless internet (bad internet, not bad hotels!) and foreign languages.

One Room Challenge 2016: Week 2

Welcome to Week #2 of the One Room Challenge!

Last week, I introduced you to our bright red laundry room full of dancing chefs.

The chefs are now gone.  The walls are now gray.  And it looks 100x better!

Daily Doodles: Week 10

This week's Doodle is a catch up from before we left for our big cross-country road trip.  The weekend before we started the journey, we went to visit my grandmother for lunch, so I decided to doodle a building in her hometown to give to her.

One Room Challenge 2016: Week 1

Hello and welcome to Homespun by Laura!  I can't believe it's been five months since my last blog post, but there's nothing like the One Room Challenge to give you that extra little push to get back on track!
During last fall's ORC, I focused on our upstairs office and learned that participating in the challenge kept me focused on the project, so I decided to join in again!  Click here for more on last year's Home Office/Sewing Room redo.

This year, I decided to transform our laundry room, which is about a fifth of the size of the office...so it can't be too hard, right? :-)
