DIY Computer Tote: A New Life for an Old Blazer + a Tutorial

Once upon a time, I decided to attend my first blogging conference.  The Haven conference is a DIY & home decor blogger's conference held annually in Atlanta, so it seemed like the right fit for my first event.

I figured it'd be likely that I'd start to feel a little intimidated at some point as a result of sharing airspace with hundreds of other talented and accomplished ladies (and a few gents) and decided that having a piece with me that reminded me of my own talents would be like walking around carrying a little shield, preventing feelings of self-doubt to penetrate my brain.  I also knew I'd need a bag to tote around note-taking materials and conference goodies.

It only made sense that I kill two birds with one stone and (re)fashion myself a new bag to fit these needs.

DIY Copper + Wood Laptop Stand

In my One Room Challenge reveal post earlier this month, I shared the new stand I made to go over my laptop and clear up space on my desk.  Today, I'm sharing the steps I took to make it so you can make something similar for your own purposes.

Spring One Room Challenge: Week 6

Wow!  Week 6 of the One Room Challenge is here!  I can't tell you how excited I am about the condition of this room.  Since we moved into our house in 2009, it has seen various stages of mess and progress, but only in the past 6 weeks have the most major changes taken place.  It looks and feels like a completely different room today than it did 6 weeks ago - without any construction or major financial investment.

Spring One Room Challenge: Week 5

Wow, Week 5 got here fast!  That means there's only one more week left before I finally finish up this nearly two-year long project!  To catch up anyone who's new, I'm in the final stretch of transforming a space that used to be a hoarder's dream into a useable office space.  I made huge progress the first time I participated in the One Room Challenge in 2015, but there was more to be done.

Spring One Room Challenge: Week 4

This week's focus has been on two areas:  Decluttering and Organizing.  The room both looks and feels very different after this week's effort, and I'm pleased with the amount of things I've gotten rid of and the more organized look of the shelves.  It's still a work in progress, so when you see the pictures you'll probably think I've lost my mind.  You'll just have to trust me.

A Rainy Weekend at the Country Living Fair

For the first time ever, my mom and I took a trip together over the weekend, just the two of us.  A few months ago, I asked her if she'd like to go to Nashville for the Country Living Fair, and she agreed.

Spring 2017 One Room Challenge: The Office (Again)

For the Fall 2015 One Room Challenge, I made some major transformations in the room over our garage.  At the end of the Challenge, there were still a few lingering projects, and I'm sad to say that most of them are still lingering.  I thought the Spring 2017 ORC was the perfect time to get them done once and for all.

An Afternoon in Waco, Texas

An Afternoon in Waco, Texas: The Silos at Magnolia Market, Harp Design Co., and the Dr. Pepper MuseumLike millions of other people, I’ve watched Fixer Upper since its first season three years ago.  I love Chip’s crazy antics, Jo’s method of mixing old and new to create beautiful, homey spaces, and Clint’s amazing reclaimed furniture pieces.  If given the opportunity, I’d move to Waco and work for either company in just about any capacity.  That won’t ever happen, but recently I got as close as I’ll ever get.

We arranged the route of our No Interstates Road Trip to take us through Waco, where we visited Chip and Jo’s Magnolia Silos, Clint’s Harp Design Co. shop, and took a quick tour of the Dr. Pepper museum, only blocks from Magnolia Market.

DIY Laundry Rack / Fuse Box Cover

When I started redecorating the laundry room for the Fall 2016 One Room Challenge, I knew I wanted to cover the fuse box up in a way that would leave it accessible when we need it, but I wasn't exactly sure how to do it.
